At the opening of the meeting, Director of the State Tax Service Olga Golban expressed her gratitude to the experts of the International Monetary Fund for their participation and valuable support provided to improve the procedures of fiscal administration on the basis of the Memorandum-Agreement. She expressed confidence that the parties will have productive meetings during this period, and the colleagues will take maximum advantage of this opportunity to improve the processes on the fiscal control side. “Your experience will help us to become even better at what we do, as well as to make the necessary changes to the existing regulatory framework,” the STS Director said. STS Deputy Director Petru Griciuc emphasized the impact of the tax authority's cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and reiterated the need to improve the quality of financial control. “The purpose of financial control should also play an educational role in order to promote voluntary compliance with the provisions of tax legislation,” he said. For their part, the IMF experts commended the progress of the STS in terms of the commitments undertaken, while noting the need to provide the necessary tools for effective budgetary control and services adapted to the needs of taxpayers to promote voluntary compliance with tax laws. // 21.10.2024 – InfoMarket
