An international expert will help the Customs Service develop the concept of the Risk Analysis and Information Center.
The development of the concept for the new Center for Analysis of Risks and Information (CARI) was discussed at a meeting of Customs management with international customs expert James Grinham, which was also attended by representatives of the Moldova Institutional and Structural Reform Program (USAID/MISRA). The CS leadership emphasized that the priority task of the institution is to improve customs control based on risk analysis, through the effective allocation of resources and facilitation of legal transactions, which explains the creation of CARI. The meeting presented the most significant results of customs in the fight against smuggling and illegal trafficking of dangerous goods, as well as priorities arising from the main task of ensuring economic and national security in the regional context, focused on combating economic crimes and cross-border crime. As the CS press service reported, the international expert will provide expertise, taking into account the goals established during the development of the CARI concept, and will also visit border and internal customs posts to get acquainted with how customs specialists work in the field of combating fraud. According to the proposed concept, CARI will include risk analysis units at the central and regional levels and will consist of 3 components: analytical, monitoring and profiling. Recall that at the end of February, the CS and the Moldova Institutional and Structural Reform Program (USAID/MISRA) signed a memorandum of understanding to help improve customs controls based on risk analysis and create a CARI center. //12.03.2024 — InfoMarket.
