Revenues to the state budget of Moldova from large taxpayers in 2023 amounted to 12.4 billion lei (45% of the total) – the State Tax Service.
Deputy Director of the State Tax Service (STS), Petru Griciuc reported this. He noted that in general, in 2023, the revenues to the national public budget, accumulated by the State Tax Service, amounted to 63.9 billion lei, of which 22.7 billion lei came from big taxpayers, while the allocations to the state budget from big taxpayers last year amounted to 12.4 billion lei (45 per cent of the total volume). Petru Griciuc told about this at a training seminar for large taxpayers, organized by the State Tax Service, dedicated to the amendments introduced in the tax policy for 2024 and other aspects of tax administration. The seminar was attended by about 600 taxpayers. Petru Griciuc noted that large taxpayers, based on their activities, turnover and, accordingly, taxes and fees paid, make a significant contribution to the formation of budget revenues. He said that 2024 is a year of challenges, including for the State Tax Service, in the context of the start of negotiations on Moldova's accession to the European Union, the need to harmonize the national legislation with the European one, as well as taking into account the development of instruments of voluntary compliance with the tax legislation, through the optimization, development of information systems, creation of a partnership dialogue at the executive and institutional levels, increase in the speed and improvement of the procedure of notification of errors, without applying penalties. Deputy Director of STS noted that the State Tax Service is constantly developing and expanding channels of communication, informing and popularization of legislation, and the number of subscribers to sources of communication, indicates the interest and usefulness of the information provided.
