The Customs Service is completing testing of the new functionality of the information system for the prompt processing of international mail.

Representatives of the department announced this at a working meeting with representatives of postal and courier operators. At the meeting, current topics aimed at applying new provisions of customs legislation were discussed. Business representatives touched upon the technical and practical aspects of preparing customs declarations for transit, import and export of international postal items for individuals. At the same time, until the completion of IT procedures, in order not to jeopardize e-commerce and the supply chain, the previous procedure for customs declaration of international mail items is temporarily ensured, and the number of customs officers has been increased to process international mail items. The Customs Service reported that some adjustments and improvements are being made to the information system; at this stage, testing of new functionality is being completed to facilitate the prompt processing of postal items, the introduction of preliminary electronic data exchange, etc. The CS emphasized the importance of interaction with the business environment regarding existing problems and shortcomings - this is necessary to improve the secondary and tertiary regulatory framework aimed at providing high-quality and fast postal services, ensuring economic security and the safety of citizens. During the meeting, entrepreneurs were informed about the benefits of an authorized economic operator, etc. Recall that from January 1, a new Customs Code has been in force in Moldova.
