The State Tax Service reminded that legal entities as well as taxpayers engaged in professional and independent activities should submit their declarations by 27 March. The declaration can be filed electronically or on paper. Gross income does not include some types of income under Article 20 of the Tax Code: compensations and one-time allowances, monetary compensation under the "First House" (Prima Casa) program, scholarships, targeted compensations, financial aid, etc. Income tax must be paid on March 25, June 25, September 25, and December 25 of the fiscal year. Income tax is paid in installments by March 25, June 25, September 25 and December 25 of the tax year. Entities of the economic activity sector of small and medium-sized enterprises, persons engaged in professional activities in the field of justice and health care, as well as individuals engaged in independent entrepreneurship pay income tax to the budget in installments, quarterly by the 25th of the month following the reporting quarter. The aforementioned categories of persons are required to submit an income tax return for the previous year, regardless of the presence or absence of the obligation to pay tax. According to the Tax Code, farmers are subject to income tax at a rate of 7%, legal entities belonging to the small medium enterprises sector - 4%, individuals engaged in independent entrepreneurship - 1% of annual sales, but not less than 3 thousand lei per year, and for other subjects the tax rate is 12%.
