This was reported by the State Tax Service, noting that in January last year this figure was 3 million 195.2 thousand lei, and in January of this year - 4 million 899.5 thousand lei. The STS emphasizes that as a result of voluntary compliance and information activities in the first month of 2023, 325 individuals renting / using real estate were identified. In the case of 51 individuals who leased real estate and did not comply with the law, the following additional payments to the budget were accrued for payment: basic payments - 155.8 thousand lei; fines for delaying payments - 10.9 thousand lei and penalties were applied totaling 5.4 thousand lei. In total, in January 2023, at the State Tax Service were registered 2,152 contracts for the lease of real estate to other individuals, which is 20.4% more than in the same period a year earlier (1,787). The State Tax Service recalls that, in accordance with the provisions of the Tax Code, individuals who are not engaged in entrepreneurial activities, renting real estate to other individuals for possession and / or use (for property lease, rent, usufruct), pay a tax in the amount of 7% of the monthly value of the contract . These persons are obliged to register it with the State Tax Service within 7 days from the date of conclusion of the agreement. This tax is paid monthly, no later than the 25th day of the current month, in the manner prescribed by the State Tax Service. Citizens who do not fulfill these obligations are fined in accordance with the Tax Code.
