The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova has announced that it is accepting applications for the "Best Winegrower of 2026" competition, which will be held as part of the National Wine Day celebrations. Specialists in the viticulture sector are invited to participate. Candidates must provide information on their education, place of employment, and position, as well as their total experience in grape production for winemaking and the length of time they have worked at their current employer. In selecting the winner, consideration will also be given to participation in the implementation and promotion of modern technologies and best viticultural practices, as well as in professional training events organized by wineries, the National Office for Vine and Wine, industry associations, and other organizations in the sector. The criteria include the area of vineyards managed, monitored, or maintained, their phytosanitary and agrotechnical condition, actual and projected yields over the past three years in metric tons per hectare, as well as the use of sustainable viticulture methods and measures to adapt to climate change and mitigate its effects.
