As noted in the state-owned enterprise "Moldovan Railways"' statement, from January through September 2026, the state-owned enterprise focused its efforts on restoring its economic and financial position, fully repaying wage arrears accumulated over the years, ensuring freight transportation, resuming certain railway operations and sectors, as well as developing logistics connections and optimizing operational processes. As a result of these measures, supported by investment programs promoted by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development with the backing of the Moldovan government, Moldovan Railways posted a positive financial result of 22.7 million lei over the first nine months of this year. This growth reflects a significant improvement compared to previous years, when the company incurred losses of approximately 320 million lei in 2024 and approximately 85 million lei in 2025. Moldovan Railways notes that, at the same time, the company is continuing its structural reform process, which involves reorganizing the company by separating its operations and establishing two joint-stock companies. The reform aims to optimize management, delineate operational responsibilities, and lay the groundwork for long-term economic sustainability. At the same time, the state-owned enterprise "Moldovan Railways" is implementing measures to improve operational efficiency, attract new cargo flows, and make more effective use of existing transport capacity in order to strengthen the role of rail transport in Moldova's economic development. // 21.10.2026 — InfoMarket.
