This was stated by Yuri Fale, executive director of Moldova Fruct, the Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters. As part of his participation in the Moldovan-Indian Business Forum, organized in Chisinau on the occasion of the official visit of Indian President Draupadi Murmu, he presented the export potential of our country’s fruit sector, available volumes, the delivery schedule, and the ability of Moldovan producers to meet the demand of international markets. Yuri Fale emphasized that Moldova can offer its Indian partners a diverse range of fresh and processed fruits. In 2025, exports of Moldova’s main fruit categories exceeded 269,000 metric tons: approximately 107,000 metric tons of apples, 70,500 metric tons of plums, nearly 65,000 metric tons of table grapes, 12,450 metric tons of sweet cherries, and more than 10,000 metric tons of dried plums. The sector’s potential stands at approximately 140,000 metric tons of apples, 85,000 metric tons of plums, 75,000 metric tons of grapes, and 20,000 metric tons of sweet cherries. Moldova already exports its produce to more than 40 countries, and producers have modern orchards, cold storage facilities, sorting and packing lines, as well as international certifications such as GLOBALG.A.P., GRASP, SMETA, and IFS. Since March 2025, India has recognized Moldova as a country authorized to supply it with fresh apples. It should be emphasized that India is a market with a population of about 1.4 billion consumers who eat apples. They prefer red and sweet apples, especially the Red Delicious variety.
