Macroeconomics
State budget revenues in January-July totaled 44.57 billion lei (+1.9% y/y), expenditures - 53.27 billion (+4.3%), while the deficit increased by 18.5% to 8.70 billion lei. The national public budget deficit rose by 44% to 7.12 billion lei.
In January-August, the State Tax Service transferred 58.60 billion lei to the national public budget, 11.6% more than a year earlier; state budget receipts increased by 14% to about 24.40 billion lei.
Energy and resources
From September 1, natural gas for Energocom residential consumers rose by 40.7% to 18.79 lei per cubic meter excluding VAT, or 20.30 lei including VAT. Tariffs at the outlets of high- and medium-pressure networks increased by 70% and 60.4% to 14,219 and 15,289 lei per 1,000 cubic meters excluding VAT.
Energy imports in the first half of the year increased by 15.2% to 1.21 billion euros and accounted for 24.23% of total imports. Gas imports in value terms reached 530.40 million euros (+11%), petroleum products - 469.40 million (+23.9%), and electricity - 195.90 million euros (+7.3%).
The average wholesale electricity purchase price in the second quarter fell by about 0.45 lei per kWh compared with the previous quarter: the low was recorded in April at 2.12 lei/kWh, while in June the price was 2.36 lei/kWh.
Government regulation
The Service for the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering proposes adding crypto-asset service providers, crowdfunding platforms, professional soccer clubs and agents, as well as certain dealers in high-value goods and intermediaries to the anti-money laundering system. For credit and financial institutions, the maximum fine could reach 10 million euros or 10% of annual turnover; the bills still require parliamentary approval.
Investment and projects
A contract has been signed in Soroca for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations and a sewer line worth 11.50 million euros. The works are part of a World Bank water supply and sanitation project totaling 44.10 million euros, being implemented through January 2027.
The first Start Digital 360° call has opened for 40 places - 30 for SMEs and 10 for public institutions. The digital transformation package, lasting up to 12 months, costs 8,357 euros; the EU co-finances 50%, leaving a beneficiary contribution of 4,178.50 euros.
Banks and finance
Remittances from abroad to individuals through banks in January-July reached $1.15 billion, up 24.5% y/y; July inflows totaled $185.39 million, 20.9% more than a year earlier. The euro accounted for 83.4% of July transfers.
Eximbank shareholders decided to rename the bank Intesa Sanpaolo Bank; the new name will be used after approval by the National Bank of Moldova and registration of the changes. The bank has been part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group since 2018.
Agriculture
In August, AIPA approved 82.19 million lei in payments to farmers, compared with 56.01 million lei in July. Of this amount, 50 million lei was allocated to 333 beneficiaries to compensate losses from the 2025 drought and extreme heat, while 22.30 million lei was allocated under the LEADER program.
Business and companies
Purcari Wineries revenue in the first half of the year decreased by 6.8% to 182.19 million RON (34.60 million euros), while net profit fell by 3.4% to 15.11 million RON (2.90 million euros); EBITDA increased by 6% to 51.99 million RON.
Sales of KFC and Taco Bell in Moldova in the first half of the year increased by 18% to 16.03 million RON (3.05 million euros); second-quarter growth was 43.9% y/y. Operating profit for the half-year rose by 21.4% to 2.35 million RON.
Social economy
The average salary in the second quarter was 16,895.70 lei, up 9.2% in nominal terms and 2.3% in real terms. The average salary in the public sector reached 13,827.30 lei (+5.1%), while in the private sector it was 17,910.40 lei (+10.2%).
The average number of employees increased by 2.5% y/y in the second quarter, but fell by 1.7% in manufacturing. Since the beginning of the year, the State Labor Inspectorate has identified more than 10,000 undeclared workers, and more than 66% of them have been formally employed.

AGENDA
On September 2 at 09:30, Government Secretary General Alexei Buzu will hold a press conference on the results of the voluntary amalgamation process.
On September 2 at 10:00, the government will meet. The agenda includes amendments to the 2026 state budget and one-off payments, changes to the social and health insurance budgets, amendments concerning the independence of the NBM, rules for biofuel inspection, and expropriation of property for works related to the Giurgiulești International Free Port.
On September 2 at 10:00, ANRE will consider changes concerning mandatory natural gas stocks for the 2026-2027 cold season, including the volume of gas to be stored by the supply organization serving the Transnistrian region.
