The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) has reiterated the requirements of the Law on Consumer Information Regarding Food Products, according to which mandatory information about food products must be provided in Romanian directly on the packaging or label of the product. Information may also be provided in other languages, but it does not replace the labeling in the official language. Importers are required to ensure that labels comply with national requirements before placing products on the Moldovan market. Labeling must be clear and legible and must include, depending on the type of product, its name, ingredients, allergen information, net weight, expiration date or best-by date, storage and usage conditions, details of the responsible operator, country of origin, and nutritional information. ANSA notes that the information must not mislead consumers.
