The government has approved a bill that provides for exemptions from VAT, excise taxes, customs duties, customs clearance fees, and environmental fees for goods and services imported or supplied for the implementation of the "School Modernization" project. The Ministry of Education and Research notes that the total budgetary impact of the proposed tax exemptions is estimated at 5.89 million euros. As a reminder, the project is financed by a 30 million euro loan from the Council of Europe Development Bank and a 5 million euro grant to improve the energy efficiency of educational infrastructure, provided with the support of the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership Fund. The funds are planned to be allocated for the major renovation and equipping of 15 of the 90 schools included in the national network of model educational institutions. It is expected that the implementation of the project will improve learning conditions for approximately 12,800 students and working conditions for 800 school employees in both urban and rural areas. // 13.08.2026 — InfoMarket.
