According to the Ministry of Energy and the National Center for Sustainable Energy, the total budget for this phase is approximately 57 million lei, with funding provided entirely from the state budget. The EcoVoucher program provides vulnerable households with the opportunity to reduce their electricity consumption and related expenses by replacing old appliances with new, energy-efficient ones. This initiative is part of the government's efforts to improve energy efficiency in the residential sector and to promote more responsible and rational energy consumption. As Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu noted, measures to improve the energy efficiency of household appliances used in daily life could yield energy savings of up to 33 GWh per year nationwide. For each individual family, this means lower energy consumption and reduced utility bills. Ion Muntean, director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy, emphasized that the EcoVoucher program is already yielding concrete and measurable results. Families are reducing their energy consumption, and the money they save can be used for other household needs. "Since the program's launch, we have streamlined the process of issuing and using vouchers so that beneficiaries can quickly and easily receive support. Given the challenges facing the energy sector, any measures that help households consume less energy and manage their expenses more efficiently contribute to their resilience," he noted. Each voucher is worth 7,000 lei. It can cover up to 70% of the equipment's cost (including VAT), with the beneficiary paying the remainder. Under the program, voucher recipients can purchase refrigerators—including those with a freezer compartment—in energy efficiency classes A, B, C, and D, as well as class A washing machines. All appliances purchased under the program meet energy efficiency criteria and European conformity standards (CE). Vouchers are distributed on a priority basis to families with the largest number of minor children and to households with at least two people over the age of 63. In addition, 10% of the total number of available vouchers is reserved for individuals with severe disabilities. Recipients are notified of voucher availability via text message or email. Vouchers are accessed through the compensatii.gov.md platform. To use a voucher, you must recycle an old household appliance of the same type. Since the program's launch, 43,366 families have used EcoVoucher vouchers to purchase 20,637 refrigerators and 22,692 washing machines. According to the National Center for Sustainable Energy, the more than 43,000 appliances installed during the program's duration provide annual electricity savings of approximately 8.85 million kWh, equivalent to about 32.7 million lei. Additional information about the program and upcoming phases can be found on the official website of the National Center for Sustainable Energy or obtained by calling the "green line" (phone: 0 8005 5005). The program to provide vouchers for household appliances (EcoVoucher) was developed by the Moldovan government with financial support from the European Union and is being implemented by the National Center for Sustainable Energy in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy. The current phase of the program is funded from the state budget. // 13.10.2026 — InfoMarket
