Joining the EU is not only a political goal, but also a huge economic opportunity for Moldovan businesses - Dumitru Alaiba
The Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization said this while speaking at the EBA Business Outlook 2025 event, organized by the European Business Association (EBA) of Moldova. Dumitru Alaiba emphasized that the process of European integration already brings concrete benefits: expanded access to the European market, new financing opportunities and higher standards that make Moldovan businesses more competitive. All these advantages were discussed at the EBA Business Outlook 2025 event, organized by the European Business Association of Moldova, together with entrepreneurs and experts in this field. The Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization noted that the European Union is the main market for our products. In 2024, more than 67% of Moldovan exports went to EU countries. Moreover, thanks to the trade liberalization measures with the EU approved in 2022, the export of some goods has reached impressive figures. Thus, the export of cherries increased from 74 tons in 2021 to 1830 tons in 2024. Dumitru Alaiba also pointed out that the EU is also the largest investor in Moldova. According to the latest data, 81.5% of foreign direct investment comes from the European Union, which strengthens the economy and supports the development of Moldovan businesses. The Minister noted that the Economic Growth Plan for Moldova, announced by the European Commission at the end of 2024, concerns not only roads, bridges and hospitals, but will also provide specific assistance to entrepreneurs. "Our ambitious goals include: launching 5,000 new businesses, supporting 25,000 existing businesses and supporting 3,000 companies exporting to the EU. As we get closer to the EU, the opportunities become even greater. Our future is not at a crossroads, but on the European road of development, where every kilometer traveled brings new investments, higher-paying jobs and stronger business,” said Dumitru Alaiba.//25.02.2025 – InfoMarket
