
Monthly inflation in Moldova in February 2024 reached 0.71% against 0.79% a month earlier and 0.95% in February 2023.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported this, noting that, in particular, the average consumer prices in February 2024, as compared to January 2024, increased by 0.71% due to the increase of prices for food products by 0.36%, for non-food products - by 1.14%, as well as the increase of tariffs for services rendered to the population by 0.56%. According to the NBS, in February 2024, as compared to January 2024, among food products, the more pronounced increase in average consumer prices was for vegetables - by 3.4% and fruits - by 1.9%. At the same time, in the reporting period the prices for chicken eggs decreased by 8.3%, meat, meat semi-finished products and canned food - by 0.5%, vegetable oil - by 0.3%. As for non-food products, during the reporting period, average consumer prices for fuel and fuel increased by 3.6% (including: diesel fuel - by 7.5% and gasoline - by 4.5%), medicines - by 0.5%. At the same time, among the services rendered to the population, in February 2024, as compared to January 2024, the tariff for heat supply increased by 13.5%.
