Moldova's economy is recovering and economic growth of 2-2.5% is expected this year - Dumitru Alaiba.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization stated this while speaking in Parliament. He noted that 2022 was probably the most difficult year for our country since independence given the war in Ukraine, recession, hyperinflation and drought. "Despite the difficulties, we have set ourselves an ambitious goal of restarting the economy. Despite the fact that in the first quarter of this year we had a GDP decline of 2.4%, the economy is now recovering and by the end of this year we will have an economic growth of 2-2.5%, according to our forecasts, because we have become more resilient to challenges," emphasized Dumitru Alaiba. He said that all the problems that exist today in Moldova's economy have solutions. "The good news is that we have already identified them. Some of them will be solved simply, with little intervention, while others are of historical nature and require will and compromise, both on the part of public institutions and the private environment. Moreover, we are undertaking systemic reforms that require time, experience, political, economic and social will. Every day Moldova is becoming more and more friendly and open for investments. Both local and foreign. Jointly with the Ministry's team, we have set measurable, ambitious goals, important for the business environment and the Moldovan economy, and we are systematically implementing them," Dumitru Alaiba said. // 20.10.2023 – InfoMarket
