The agrarian and industrial sectors of Moldova form 9.2% and 14.7% of GDP, respectively, while in the EU they account for 1.9% and 37.2%, respectively.
Such data are presented in the statistical analysis of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) "Moldova VS the EU". At the same time, both in Moldova and in the EU, the services sector has the largest share in GDP - 67.5% and 55.3%, respectively. At the same time, the construction sector accounts for 8.6% of GDP in Moldova and 3% in the EU. It is worth noting that in 2022, Moldova's GDP decreased by 5.9% compared to 2021; while in the EU it increased by 3.5%. In 2021, the GDP per capita in Moldova was about 4424 euros, while in the EU countries - 7.3 times more - 32 440 euros. In 2022, the EU countries accounted for about 58.6% of Moldovan exports and 47.3% of imports to Moldova, with a higher growth rate of imports (+38.6%) than the growth rate of Moldovan exports to the EU (+32.3%). In 2022, there was a lower average annual inflation rate in the EU than in Moldova - 9.2% against 28.7%, and the production of industrial products increased by 3%, while in Moldova it decreased by 5.1%. The NBS report noted the difference between the components of agricultural production in Moldova and in the EU: in our country the production of agricultural products is dominant (78.1%), livestock products account for 20% of the production, and services have a small share (1.9%) while in the EU crop production is dominant but takes a smaller share (55.3%), and livestock production and services occupy 36.3% and 8.4%, respectively. Accordingly, the volume of agricultural production per capita in Moldova is 2.7 times higher than in the EU (1793 kg versus 653 kg), except for potatoes (83 kg versus 110 kg).
