Moldova received external state loans totaling $863.9 million (equivalent of 16 billion 478 million lei) in 2022, which is by $341.9 million (65.5%) more than in 2021.
As noted in the materials of the Ministry of Finance, in the structure of the inflow of external public loans by type of creditor, the largest share is accounted for multilateral lenders. In particular, the largest amount of loans to Moldova in 2022 was allocated by the IMF - $250.5 million, or 29% of the total amount. It is followed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - $237.3 million (27.5%), International Development Association (IDA) - $141.8 million (16.4% of the total amount), French Development Agency - $79.2 million (9.2%), European Investment Bank - $46.9 million (5.4%), International Bank for Reconstruction and Development - $41.2 million (4.8%), European Union - $35.8 million (4.1%).
