Economic agents are pessimistic about the economic situation in Moldova.

These are the results of the business barometer, which was presented on Wednesday by the Association of Investors of Romania in Moldova. The business barometer was calculated based on the results of a survey conducted among 456 companies in Moldova, including the Transnistrian region. The data was collected in December 2022 by the sociological company Date Inteligente (400 companies), as well as the Tiraspol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (56 companies). The study showed how the attitude of the surveyed companies has changed according to the 7 indicators included in the questionnaire. On average, about 33% of respondents state negative trends in the Moldovan economy. At the same time, the situation of enterprises in the service sector, industry and the agricultural sector worsened the most, this affected most of all small companies, as well as enterprises in Chisinau. On average, the least negative trends in the economy were felt by entrepreneurs in the trade and construction industries. The business barometer showed a deterioration in the assessment of the policies and actions of central and local authorities in relation to business. The business climate and business conditions also deteriorated. On both banks of the Dniester, entrepreneurs noted the deterioration of the economic situation in general. Herewith, many companies have reduced investments, reduced turnover, and less negative assessments relate to maintaining the number of employees and net profit of enterprises. According to Mihai Bologan, Director of "Date Inteligente", over 2/3 of the respondents indicated a significant increase in prices among the difficulties they face in business, 45% - a lack of qualified personnel, 44% are experiencing economic difficulties due to the war in Ukraine, 35% problems with the sale of goods and the search for new customers, 29% - believe that taxes are very high in Moldova. Other problems include access to finance, bureaucracy, and corruption. About 0.5% of respondents reported that they do not face any difficulties in their activities. // 08.02.2023 — InfoMarket
