The Municipal Council of Chisinau was unable to approve any solutions to overcome the crisis at the Apă-Canal Chisinau (ACC).

During an emergency meeting of the municipal council, Deputy Mayor Irina Gutnic heard information about the situation at the Apă-Canal Chisinau, and the proposals of the advisers on the issue of paying off the debts of the Apă-Canal Chisinau to PremierEnergy were also announced. In particular, the members of the Municipal Council were asked to sign an appeal to the General Mayor of Chisinau with a request to convene a meeting of the Municipal Commission for Emergency Situations in order to ascertain the financial situation at the Apă-Canal Chisinau, declare a state of emergency in the field of water supply and sewerage in the municipality of Chisinau and allocate money from the municipal budget to cover debts of the company for electricity. At the same time, according to Irina Gutnic, the allocation of municipal funds will not solve the problem, since in a couple of months a similar problem may arise and it will be necessary to allocate funds again. According to her, the way out of the situation could be the intervention of the central authorities and an urgent increase in the tariff. She noted that Apă-Canal Chisinau consumes 28.5 million lei for electricity every month, while the tariff covers about 17 million lei, and the company's debt to Premier Energy is about 70 million lei. It is worth noting that the advisers collected signatures for an appeal to the National Commission for Emergency Situations with a request to allocate funds to cover the debts of the enterprise. Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban, speaking at the meeting, accused the government of the difficult situation in the Apă-Canal Chisinau. He also said that next week it would be proposed to expand the composition of the administrative council of the Apă-Canal Chisinau and include the prime minister, the heads of the ministry of infrastructure and regional development, the ministry of economy and the ministry of finance, the head of the State Chancellery and two specialists from NAER, so that they, as specialists, would offer their decisions to manage the situation at the Apă-Canal Chisinau.// 01.02.2023 — InfoMarket
