Moldova will keep secret for the time being data on the procurement of goods and services for a meeting of the European Political Community in Chisinau.
A decision to this effect was approved at a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CoES) chaired by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita. According to the CoES, in the context of war in the neighboring country and risks generated by it for the national security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, as the institution responsible for organizing the second meeting of the European Political Community, will conclude contracts for goods and services necessary for the organization of the meeting in Chisinau on June 1, through negotiation procedures, without making public any prior notice, in order to ensure security measures for the preparation of the European Political Community (EPC). In order to ensure the confidentiality of information, so as not to jeopardize security measures in preparation for the second EPC meeting, contrary to the provisions of the legislation in force, the MFAEI will not transmit and the Public Procurement Agency will not publish the announcement in the Public Procurement Bulletin and the decision on the approval of contracts and reports. It is agreed that MFAEI will keep all documents in paper form and send them to the Public Procurement Agency after the event to ensure the correct accounting and statistical analysis of public procurements. As previously reported, the second meeting of the European Political Community, which will be held in Chisinau on June 1, 2023, is expected to be attended by 47 presidents and heads of governments, as well as EU leaders. The leaders at the Chisinau meeting will discuss joint efforts for peace in the context of the war in Ukraine and related crises, the protection of democracy, the strengthening of energy security and the sustainability of European states. The European Political Community was created last year at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron. The first meeting of the EPC was held in Prague in October 2022. //20.01.2023 - InfoMarket.
