In Iasi, a protocol was signed to amend the Moldovan-Romanian agreement on regulating the construction of some water conduits.

The corresponding document amending the intergovernmental agreement was signed on Thursday by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova, Andrei Spinu, the Minister of Environment, Water Resources and Forests of Romania, Tánczos Barna, and the chairman of the county council of Iasi Costel Alexe. This protocol provides for the relocation of some water pipelines in Ungheni, Nisporeni, Glodeni and Falesti, excluding some sections of the underwater crossing, in order to provide flexibility in making decisions allowing the crossing of the Prut River. An intergovernmental agreement signed in May 2021 provides that at the first stage, an underground water pipeline will be built across the Prut near the village of Magdacesti. The beneficiaries will be about 30 thousand residents of 13 settlements in the Ungheni and Nisporeni regions. This component of the project already has a technical justification and financial coverage. At the next stages, water pipelines will be built near the villages of Sculeni and Viisoara. Another water pipe will be built into the bridge located between the two countries near Ungheni. According to the Romanian Ministry of the Environment, the investment will come from Apavital, founded by the Iasi County Council, as well as about 90 other local councils involved in the project. In general, the beneficiaries of the water pipelines, which will be built by Apavital across the Prut to supply drinking water from the Iasi county, will be 250 thousand residents of the Nisporeni, Ungheni, Glodeni and Falesti regions.// 10.11.2022 — InfoMarket.
