NAER rejected the Chisinau Municipal Council's request to raise water and sewerage tariffs.
The head of the NAER Water Supply and Sewerage Department, Alexandru Mija, said at a meeting of the municipal council that there are no prerequisites for raising water tariffs this year. According to representatives of NAER, the expenses referred to by the representatives of Apă-Canal Chișinău are groundless. Alexandru Mija also stressed that if the Chisinau Municipal Council still approves the decision to change the tariff for water and sewerage for residents of the capital, then it can be challenged, and its action suspended. He recalled that Apă-Canal Chișinău operates on the basis of external loans from the EBRD and the EIB, and in this situation, all decisions on setting tariffs are made only by NAER. The other day, the head of Apă-Canal Chișinău, Irina Gutnik, said at a meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council that there is a risk of disconnection of capital consumers from water supply and sewerage due to the difficult situation in the energy sector and the company's debts. Herewith, representatives of NAER declare their openness for constructive cooperation both with license holders, whose activities are regulated by the agency, and with government bodies at all levels to provide consumers with quality services at fair rates. //04.11.2022 – InfoMarket.
