New EU energy labels will be applied in Moldova starting from 2022.

The corresponding changes in the regulation on energy labeling requirements for certain energy-consuming products, approved by the government this week, were published in Monitorul Oficial (the Official Journal of Moldova). According to the document, starting from the New Year, the energy labeling system will use a simpler method from A to G instead of classification from A +++ to D. The new labeling system complies with European standards and applies to the following product groups: refrigerators, dishwashers and washing machines, TVs, vacuum cleaners, electric lamps and illuminators. Energy efficiency label information classifies household appliances on a scale from A (lowest energy consumption) to G (least energy efficient appliances), based on the amount of energy consumed. This helps consumers save money by choosing products that use less energy. As the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development clarified, importers and distributors of goods subject to energy labeling requirements will be able to place goods with new label formats on the market. At the same time, the Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance has the right to impose sanctions for non-compliance of goods with the requirements of national regulations. It is planned that the Energy Efficiency Agency will organize information campaigns on the new labeling requirements for energy-using products both for consumers and for distributors and suppliers of such products. // 29.11.2021 - InfoMarket.
