The government expects Moldova's GDP to grow by 7.5% in 2021, and predicts the Moldovan economy to grow by 4.5% in 2022.
This is stated in the materials of the Ministry of Finance to the Cabinet-approved draft Law on the 2022 State Budget. They note that the preliminary version of the Forecast of macroeconomic indicators for 2022-2024 developed in February-March 2021 by the Ministry of Economy provided that after last year's 7% GDP decline this year, the Moldovan economy will gradually recover and its real growth will be about 6% in 2021. However, the forecast of the main macroeconomic indicators was updated by the Ministry of Economy in August and subsequently revised in October due to the faster growth noted this year in various sectors of the Moldovan economy. In addition, the main aspects of the world economy forecast, especially in respect of the countries that are the main trading partners of Moldova, were taken into account. As a result, the new forecast of the Ministry of Economy provides for 7.5% growth of Moldova's GDP in 2021. It is expected that in nominal terms it will amount to 232.5 billion lei. It is planned that in the coming years, the economy of Moldova will consolidate the trajectory of recovery and its growth will be from 4.5% in 2022 to 5.7% in 2024. As previously reported, in the first half of this year, Moldova's GDP amounted to 104.2 billion lei and increased by 11.7% against the same period in 2020. // 22.11.2021 - InfoMarket.
