
Monthly inflation in Moldova reached 2.12% in October 2021, annual inflation (for the last 12 months) - 8.81%, and inflation in January-October of this year - 8.29%.
The National Bureau of Statistics reported this, noting that in October last year, inflation was 0.11%. In January-October 2020, 0.09% deflation was recorded and the annual inflation in October last year was 1.56%. As noted by the NBM, consumer prices in October 2021 increased by an average of 2.12%, compared to the previous month, against the background of an increase in prices for food products - by 4.03%, for non-food products - by 1.62%, as well as an increase in tariffs for services provided to the population by 0.17%. According to official statistics, in particular, in October 2021, compared to the previous month, prices for the following food products increased: vegetables - by 21.8% (in particular: tomatoes - by 66.7%, cucumbers - by 54, 8%, bell peppers, eggplants, zucchini - by 19%, garlic - by 5.5%), potatoes - by 16.4%, melons and watermelons - by 13.7%, chocolate, chocolates and other cocoa products - by 13.3%, candies, caramel, marshmallow, halva - by 8.6%, nuts - by 8.1%, corn flour - 4.5%, chicken eggs - by 4.3%, butter - 3 , 7%, cereals - 3.3%, milk and dairy products - 3.2% (in particular: whole and semi-fat milk - by 4.7% and, accordingly, by 3.8%, cottage cheese - by 3.9 %, sour cream and cream - by 3.4%, dairy products - by 2.3%, cheese and sheep cheese - by 1.9%, yogurt - by 1.5%), wheat flour bread - by 1.6% %, meat, semi-finished meat products and canned food - by 1.1% (in particular: beef - by 2.6%, poultry - by 1.4%), natural bee honey - by 1.2%. At the same time, prices for the following products fell in the reporting period: fresh fruits - by 3.8% (in particular, citrus fruits - by 16.7%, pome fruits - by 8.4%, exotic fruits - by 3.5%), cabbage - by 3.1%, onions - by 1.9%. As far as non-food products are concerned, then in October 2021, compared to the previous month, prices increased as follows: spare parts and accessories for personal vehicles - by 12.3%, fuels and lubricants - by 5.4% (in particular: coal - by 10.7%, diesel fuel - by 9.2%, briquettes and pellets from biomass - by 4.5%, firewood and liquefied gas in cylinders - by 4.4%, gasoline - by 3.7%), small household appliances - by 4%, magazines and other periodicals - by 2.8%, clothes - by 1.4%, boots, shoes and other types of footwear - by 1.3%, furniture - by 1.1%. Among the services provided to the population, in October 2021, compared to the previous month, prices for the repair of furniture and pieces of furniture increased by 6%, health services in sanatoriums - by 3.8%, catering services, passenger taxi services, household appliances repair services, painters' services - by 1.4%, dental services - by 1%.
