The previous record indicator of the internal public debt of Moldova was registered at the end of June 2021, when it was calculated at the level of 34 billion 312.7 million lei. Thus, during July, the internal public debt increased by 20.9 million lei, or by about 0.06%, and in general, in January-July 2021, the internal public debt of Moldova increased by 5 billion 098 million lei, or 17.44 %, amounting to 34 billion 333.6 million lei at the end of July 2021 against the indicator of 29 billion 235.6 million lei at the end of December 2020. According to the Ministry of Finance, such a change in the domestic public debt occurred mainly due to an increase in the issue of government securities in the primary market. In particular, as of the end of July 2021, the debt on state securities issued in the primary market amounted to about 19 billion 645.53 million lei, which is 5 billion 084.5 million lei more (+ 34.9%) than at the end of 2020 (14 billion 561.03 million lei), and its share accounted for 57.22% of the total volume of the domestic public debt. At the same time, the debt on bonds issued for the execution by the Ministry of Finance of payment obligations arising from state guarantees dated November 17, 2014 and April 1, 2015, at the end of July 2021 amounted to 12 billion 611.2 million lei, unchanged, in comparison with the situation at the end of 2020. It accounted for 36.73% of the total amount of the internal public debt of Moldova at the end of June 2021.The debt on converted government securities at the end of July 2021 amounted to 2 billion 076.92 million lei, having increased, in comparison with the situation at the end of 2020, by 13.52 million lei (+ 0.7%) and amounting to 6.05% of the total amount of domestic public debt at the end of June 2021. According to the Ministry of Finance, for 7 months in 2021, the weighted average interest rate on government securities sold at auctions amounted to 5.02% (by types of government securities: 91 days - 3.35%, 182 days - 4.96%, 364 days - 5.53%, 2 years - 5.48%, 3 years - 5.85%, 5 years - 6.1%, 7 years - 6.5%), which is 0.26 percentage points less than in the same period of the previous year.
