According to the National Bureau of Statistics, SMEs accounted for 39.3% of the total sales revenue for the entire Moldovan economy in 2020 (39.5% in 2019). The average income from sales per SME in 2020 amounted to 2 million 622.2 thousand lei, which is 6.8% less than the same indicators in 2019. Income from sales of SMEs in 2020 on average per employee increased by 1.1% compared to 2019 and amounted to 473.8 thousand lei. As in previous years, the largest income from sales - 47.2% of the total sales in the SME sector - was received by enterprises operating in the field of wholesale and retail trade - 70.92 billion lei.
