The NBM has announced the winners of the Moldovan Leu Symbol Design Competition, organized to mark the anniversary of the introduction of the national currency on November 29, 1993.

According to the National Bank of Moldova, after a thorough evaluation of the submitted works, the jury selected three winning projects, presented by Ilia Nichitov, Dmitri Voloşin and Sergiu Porombac. The competition, which was held from November 29, 2023 to October 31, 2024, was intended for professionals and students studying in the following fields: fine arts and design, graphic design, print design and technology, computer science, engineering and design, media design or other related graphic design specialties. Competition participants were invited to express their individual vision of the Moldovan Leu symbol. The evaluation committee consisted of representatives of the National Bank of Moldova, as well as specialists from outside the central bank, who made their choice based on the following criteria: presentation of an original project that conveys the appropriate message in accordance with the competition program; topic; impressive visual impact of the project; attractive technical execution. "The competition provided an opportunity to explore the creative vision of the Moldovan leu symbol, an exercise that reflects the participants' interest in our monetary identity. We appreciate the efforts and dedication of all those who contributed, and the winning works are proof of the artistic and conceptual potential of young designers from Moldova. Congratulations to the winners!" said Anca Dragu, President of the National Bank of Moldova, addressing the participants of the competition. The authors of the 3 winning projects will be awarded a commemorative and jubilee silver coin "Country Brand "Tree of Life"" issued by the National Bank of Moldova, and all participants will receive diplomas. The award ceremony will take place as part of a public event in December.
