The National Bank of Moldova and the Bank of France will expand cooperation in banking supervision, financial stability, and digital transformation

This was discussed during a meeting that the delegation of the National Bank of Moldova, headed by President Anca Dragu, held in Paris with representatives of the Bank of France. According to the National Bank of Moldova, its delegation is holding a series of meetings in Paris to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in the context of Moldova's European path. The program of the visit includes meetings with the Ambassador of Moldova to France Corina Calugaru, with the management of the Bank of France, as well as with representatives of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). During the meetings, the topics of cooperation between the NBM and the Bank of France were discussed, including in the areas of banking supervision, financial stability, financial education, and digital transformation. Representatives of the Bank of France welcomed Moldova's accession to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). Another topic of discussion was the role of the National Bank in the process of joining the European Union and the active participation of NBM specialists in international thematic working groups. "The National Bank of Moldova plays a decisive role in the process of Moldova's accession to the European Union. The active participation of our specialists in thematic working groups at the international level directly contributes to strengthening the image of Moldova as a reliable partner and promoting our strategic interests abroad," said Anca Dragu. During the discussions with the OECD representatives, the need to bring Moldova to the level of best practices in economic management and public policy was noted, especially in the context of the reforms needed to approach European standards. At the same time, topics related to the macroeconomic structure, monetary policy promoted by the NBM, as well as the need to expand access of small and medium-sized enterprises to financing - a key factor in sustainable economic development - were touched upon. Among the topics discussed, the NBM project "FinanciarELE - Women's Leadership Community" was also noted, which was launched as part of the Global Money Week - an initiative organized in 176 countries under the auspices of the OECD. This project reflects the National Bank of Moldova’s commitment to promoting gender equality and encouraging women’s participation in the financial sector and is considered an example of best practice among central banking institutions. The visit to Paris is part of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Bank of Moldova and the Bank of France, signed this year by the two institutions. The document provides for the intensification of exchange of experience, professional training of employees, as well as technical assistance in key areas of the National Bank of Moldova’s activities.//26.03.2025 – InfoMarket.
