The National Bank of Moldova joined the International Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN).

As noted in its announcement, SBFN is a voluntary community of financial sector regulators, central banks, ministries of finance, ministries of the environment and emerging market industry associations committed to promoting sustainable finance. The accession of the National Bank of Moldova to the SBFN will bring the country's financial system into line with national and global priorities in this area. By concluding an Economic and Financial Policy Memorandum with the IMF, the NBM committed to promoting the environmental agenda in the financial system, while establishing a commitment in its strategic plan “NBM 2025” to ensure the resilience of the financial system to climate risks. To achieve these goals, the NBM initiated the process of developing a Roadmap for Sustainable Finance for Moldova, benefiting in this process from the support of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. Taking into account the recommendations of the IFC in the mentioned technical assistance project, the NBM joined the SBFN. As an official member of the SBFN, the National Bank of Moldova will receive support in developing the capacity to develop and implement national sustainable finance initiatives and will have access to the SBFN database - research, analysis, reports on policy implementation events in member countries. The NBM will also participate in meetings and exchange of knowledge and experience between network members, as well as in thematic working groups.
