The National Bank of Moldova, with USAID support, is launching the largest national financial education campaign.

It will be conducted within the framework of the Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity (MISRA), implemented by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The launch event will be held on October 31 and will bring together Moldovan officials, representatives of the financial and banking sector, the educational environment, civil society, economic experts and external partners. The campaign will include a series of activities and educational products aimed at different categories of consumers, which will help them to learn to understand the financial system. Also, a web-based financial education module will be created, providing consumers with accessible and useful information to make informed financial decisions. According to the NBM, these efforts are particularly important now that the financial environment is evolving rapidly to offer consumers a wide range of financial services, and citizens are interested in optimally managing their own income and need the knowledge and information to understand the processes and services available, in a way that fully benefits them. "Regardless of the purpose and practical value of financial decisions, it is important that they are correct and intended. A decision with financial implications is achieved through the experience of simple solutions. We learn from simple and complex financial concepts to better understand financial market opportunities. In this way, we learn to recognize these opportunities and make our lives better," said Octavian Armasu, Governor of the National Bank. The implementation of the national financial education campaign is synchronized with the process of developing the Strategic Program for Financial Education at the national level, included in the strategic assistance provided by USAID. This document aims to create an effective cooperation framework that will stimulate synergies between inter-institutional efforts in the country and civil society. At the same time, the results of the USAID-supported population financial literacy survey, based on the international methodology used to assess financial literacy by member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, will be presented at the campaign launch event. // 30.10.2023 - InfoMarket.
