The European Investment Bank will support the implementation of new development projects in Moldova.
This was said at a meeting organized by Finance Minister Petru Rotaru and the head of the European Investment Bank's representative office in Moldova, Alberto Carlei, with the participation of other EIB representatives. The sides discussed infrastructure projects, the financing of the energy sector and prospects for the expansion of investments for the development of the national economy. Petru Rotaru spoke about the priority reform agenda of the Finance Ministry and the government as a whole, which includes the consolidation of budget revenues, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, the modernization of the road and railway infrastructure. "Having chosen the European path, Moldova has undertaken the implementation of important reforms. This is a nationwide effort, which requires the participation of all public authorities, but only in this way we will be able to ensure Moldova's sustainable economic development," the Finance Minister said. Referring to another current priority - ensuring Moldova's energy security, Petru Rotaru praised the financial support provided by the EIB for the energy rehabilitation of Moldova's residential building stock, which is characterized by low energy indicators due to the age of the buildings and the lack of investments in the reinforcement and energy efficiency improvement works during their use. The sides also discussed the prospects of expanding investments in digitalization, flood protection, development of the health and education systems, etc. In this context, the head of the EIB's Moldovan office expressed confidence that the cooperation relations between the two sides will continue to be efficient and fruitful. // 30.10.2023 - InfoMarket.
