
Moldovan banks’ total assets in 2021 increased by 14.2% (+14.7 billion lei), amounting to 118.5 billion lei.
The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) reported this, noting that in the structure of assets the largest share came from the balance sheet item "loans and advances at amortized cost", which amounted to 46.1% (54.6 billion lei), having increased by 2.8 percentage points (p.p.). The share of funds in NBM constituted 19.2% (22.7 billion lei), decreasing by 2.5 p.p.. The share of banks' investments in state securities and Certificates of the National Bank amounted to 15.9% (18.8 billion lei), decreasing by 1.7 p.p.. The remaining assets, which amounted to 18.8% (22.3 billion lei), were held by banks in other banks, in cash, tangible and intangible assets, etc. Their share increased by 1.4 p.p., compared to the situation at the end of 2020. According to NBM, the gross balance (prudential) of credits amounted to 47.6% of total assets, or 56.4 billion lei, increasing by 23.5% (+10.7 billion lei) in the reporting period. At the same time, the volume of newly granted loans in 2021 increased by 38.7%, compared to the situation at the end of the previous year. At the same time, the largest increase in credit portfolios in 2021 was recorded for credits granted for purchase/construction of dwelling - 45% (3.5 billion lei), reaching 11.4 billion lei, as well as for consumer credits - 40.2% (3 billion lei), reaching 10.5 billion lei. // 28.03.2022 - InfoMarket
