From March 21 to March 27, Moldova hosts the International Financial Literacy Week (Global Money Week).
During the opening of the Financial Literacy Week, the head of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armasu, noted the importance of this event for our country, emphasizing that more and more people want to know what financial terms mean, and in the context of changes at the local and international levels, the regulator must adapt to events and trends to ensure the financial stability of the country. In order to make all these processes understandable to citizens, the National Bank and other state institutions, as well as educational institutions and non-governmental organizations annually join the International Financial Literacy Week. In 2022, Global Money Week is held under the slogan "Build your future, treat money wisely", it brings together 176 countries of the world, including Moldova. The first event organized by the National Bank of Moldova together with the Independent Analytical Center Expert-Grup was an online seminar for young people, where experts spoke about the financial system of Moldova, payment services and electronic payment systems, consumer rights in this area, etc. Another seminar was organized for students of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communications of the State University of Moldova in cooperation with the Economic Press Club. Also, during the opening of the Financial Literacy Week, the heads of the National Bank and the Ministry of Finance signed a partnership agreement that will allow them to join efforts in improving the financial literacy of citizens, providing them with the information necessary to familiarize themselves with the financial environment and interact with it. Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi noted that financial literacy is a mandatory attribute of modern society, which allows saving the results of labor and avoiding mistakes, develops entrepreneurial skills among young people, and ensures financial stability. “This is part of our lives and the decisions we make every day. The Ministry of Finance will support the promotion of financial literacy and will provide relevant and understandable information products, support all participants in promoting financial literacy,” he stressed. Octavian Armasu, in turn, noted that such cooperation is another reason to be closer to citizens in order to help them better understand financial and banking concepts, changes in the financial services market and the benefits of certain financial products. It is worth noting that in 2022 Global Money Week will be organized for the 10th time. Its goal is to inform young people about the ways to handle money wisely. During trainings, excursions to banks and meetings with businessmen, schoolchildren and students learn about financial security, learn how to earn and save, and understand how the financial system works. // 21.03.2022 — InfoMarket
