
Transactions carried out in the second quarter of 2021 with bank cards issued in Moldova increased by 42.4% - up to 24 billion 056.6 million lei.
As follows from the data of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), at the same time, citizens still use cards mainly for cash withdrawals, although the trend of dynamic growth in the volume of non-cash payments continues, and the share of such transactions in the total volume is constantly growing. The NBM informed that, in particular, the volume of cash withdrawn from bank cards issued in Moldova in April-June 2021, versus the same period of the previous year, increased by 34.9% - up to 16 billion 267. 3 million lei, and the volume of non-cash payments increased by 61.3% - up to 7 billion 789.3 million lei. At the same time, the volume of non-cash payments in the banks' own network (on-us) increased by 52.1% - from 1 billion 891.1 million to 2 billion 875.9 million lei; in the network of other banks of the Republic of Moldova - increased by 54.5% - from 1 billion 972.06 million to 3 billion 047.03 million lei; abroad - increased by 92.9% - from 967.37 million to 1 billion 866.42 million lei. According to the NBM, the volume of non-cash payments with the physical presence of the card in the second quarter of 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, increased by 71.1% - from 2 billion 701.5 million to 4 billion 622.4 million lei; without the physical presence of the card, through e-commerce platforms - increased by 55.1% - from 1 billion 019.7 million to 1 billion 581.3 million lei; without the physical presence of the card, through automated remote service systems - increased by 40% - from 965.1 million to 1 billion 351.5 million lei. At the same time, cash withdrawals in the banks' own network (on-us) increased by 35.7% - from 11 billion 496.1 million to 15 billion 604.2 million lei; in the network of other banks of the Republic of Moldova - increased by 21.9% - from 408.05 million to 497.55 million lei, and abroad - increased by 7.2% - from 154.4 million to 165.5 million lei. According to the NBM, in the second quarter of 2021, relative to the previous year, the volume of transactions carried out in Moldova using cards issued abroad increased by 62.9% - up to 2 billion 827.9 million lei.
