The National Bank (NBM) will amend the Regulation on the establishment of the official exchange rate of the Moldovan leu (MDL) in relation to foreign currencies.
In particular, the regulator initiated the development of a draft resolution of the Executive Committee “On amendments and additions to the Regulation on the establishment of the official exchange rate of the MDL in relation to foreign currencies.” In its message, the NBM noted that the development of the project is due to the intention of the National Bank to introduce additional provisions in the regulation in order to ensure the optimization of the process of analyzing information received within the framework of reports on the amounts of foreign currency purchased and sold by banks for MDL, as well as to improve the effectiveness of the relevant supervisory measures in the context of anti-money laundering (AML) procedures. Proposals and recommendations on the draft resolution of the NBM will be accepted until September 3. The regulation on the establishment of the official exchange rate of the MDL in relation to foreign currencies establishes: a list of foreign currencies in relation to which the National Bank quotes the MDL; method for determining the official exchange rate of the MDL in relation to foreign currencies; provisions regarding the dissemination of the MDL official exchange rate in relation to foreign currencies by the NBM through various means of communication to licensed banks and the general public; the procedure for the submission by licensed banks to the National Bank of reports on purchase / sale transactions. // 25.08.2021 - InfoMarket.
