According to the National Bank of Moldova, at the same time, the largest bilateral creditor of our country for the first time over a long period as of the end of the year was Japan with a share of 32.2% of the total debt, and Romania, which previously occupied the 1st place, dropped to 2nd place with an indicator of 23.1% of the total debt. Russia closes the top three in terms of this indicator with a share of 13.7% of the total volume of bilateral debt. In particular, in 2020, Moldova's bilateral debt to Japan increased by 3% - from $58.15 million (as of the end of 2019) to $59.91 million (as of the end of 2020). Over the same period, Moldova's bilateral debt to Romania almost halved - from $81.14 million to $42.95 million, and to Russia - decreased by 26.1% - from $34.4 million to $25.41 million. Moldova's bilateral debt to Austria decreased by 16.2% - from $25.01 million to $20.95 million, and to Germany - decreased by 8.9% - from $14.53 million to $13.24 million.
