As follows from the data of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), at the same time, citizens still use cards mainly for withdrawing cash, although the trend of dynamic growth in the volume of non-cash payments continues, and the share of such transactions in the total volume is constantly growing. As the NBM informed, in particular, the volume of cash withdrawn from bank cards issued in Moldova in 2020, versus the previous year, increased by 3.2% - up to 53 billion 882.6 million lei, and the volume of non-cash payments increased by 26.5% - up to 21 billion 764.7 million lei. At the same time, the volume of non-cash payments in the banks’ own network (on-us) increased over the year by 62.2% - from 4 billion 755.4 million to 7 billion 713.3 million lei; in the network of other banks of the Republic of Moldova - increased by 48.3% - from 5 billion 782.2 million to 8 billion 576 million lei; abroad - decreased by 17.9% - from 6 billion 670.5 million to 5 billion 475.4 million lei. According to the NBM, the volume of non-cash payments with the physical presence of a card in 2020, compared to 2019, increased by 29.8% - from 9 billion 763.4 million to 12 billion 674.7 million lei; without the physical presence of the card, through e-commerce platforms - increased by 3.1% - from 4 billion 625.4 million to 4 billion 768.5 million lei; without the physical presence of the card, through automated remote service systems - increased by 63.5% - from 2 billion 239.9 million to 3 billion 661.8 million lei. At the same time, the volume of cash withdrawals in the banks' own network (on-us) increased by 3.1% over the year - from 49 billion 921.8 million to 51 billion 490.5 million lei; in the network of other banks of the Republic of Moldova - increased by 14.7% - from 1 billion 500.7 million to 1 billion 720.9 million lei, and abroad - decreased by 14% - from 780.68 million to 671.29 million lei. According to the NBM, in 2020, versus the previous year, the volume of transactions carried out in Moldova using cards issued abroad decreased by 5% - to 8 billion 203.3 million lei.
