Moldova will create a digital traceability system for extracted minerals

A draft government resolution on the creation of a unified digital platform integrated into state information systems has been submitted for public consultation. According to the concept, the information system will ensure digital accounting, monitoring, and control of subsoil resources—from exploration and production to transportation, processing, storage, and sales. The Environmental Agency will manage the system, the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Service will act as the technical administrator, and the State Subsoil Information Fund will manage and administer the traceability register. The project envisages the introduction of electronic traceability cards, digital documents with electronic signatures, and the use of GIS components to monitor the extraction and movement of minerals. The new system will be integrated with state platforms such as MPass, MConnect, MSign, MNotify, MCloud, and other information resources, automating data exchange and reducing the administrative burden on economic agents. A transaction audit mechanism will also be introduced, enabling the tracking of the entire movement of mineral resources and strengthening state oversight. The implementation of this information system is expected to increase transparency in the industry, prevent illegal exploitation of subsoil resources, improve revenue collection for the state budget, and align national practices with European natural resource management standards. Consultations on the project will continue until June 8.//25.05.2026 – InfoMarket.
