Moldova has acceded to three international conventions to simplify trade formalities and harmonize customs procedures

In particular, the Moldovan Parliament passed the Law on Moldova's accession to the Convention on Simplification of Formalities in Trade in Goods, adopted in Interlaken on May 20, 1987. This document establishes measures aimed at simplifying formalities in trade in goods between the 37 states parties to the convention. In particular, it introduces a Single Administrative Document (SAD), which applies to any export and import regime and to the transit regime, regardless of the nature and origin of the goods. Similarly, the Parliament passed the Law on Moldova's accession to the Common Transit Convention, adopted in Interlaken on May 20, 1987. This document provides for the simplification and harmonization of customs transit procedures between the contracting parties through the use of the New Computerized Transit System (NCTS). Among the benefits that the Moldovan Customs Service will receive is the exchange of data in real time between the customs authorities of the 37 contracting states of the Convention. At the same time, Moldova's business environment will be able to complete customs formalities more quickly and incur lower costs for transit formalities. MPs also voted in favor of Moldova's accession to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures, adopted in Kyoto on May 18, 1973, and to the Protocol amending the Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures, adopted in Brussels on June 26, 1999. The purpose of the document is to simplify and harmonize customs procedures and practices in order to facilitate international trade, optimize customs control procedures, and customs clearance. The 137 contracting parties undertake to apply standardized, transparent, and understandable customs procedures and practices in order to speed up the customs clearance of goods. // 27.06.2025 — InfoMarket.
