This was stated by the Prime Minister of Moldova, commenting on the decision of the National Agency for Energy Regulation to appoint Energocom as the new supplier of public services for the supply of gas to consumers instead of the company "Moldovagaz". Dorin Recean noted that Energocom will take over the function of supplying and issuing gas bills for all households in Moldova from the company "Moldovagaz". The change will be made automatically from August 1. Previously, the company "Moldovagaz", the controlling stake of which belongs to "Gazprom", controlled three types of activities: supply, transportation and distribution of natural gas. "Our goal is for the main enterprise responsible for the supply of gas to Moldova to be a state-owned company, and not a company controlled by Russia. This unbundling of the activities of supply, distribution and transportation of natural gas is important for the state, but it is also a measure from the Energy Package III, which Moldova has committed to implement, the so-called unbundling," the Prime Minister emphasized. According to him, the first stage was completed in 2023, and the gas transmission networks belonging to Moldovagaz were leased for a period of 5 years to Vestmoldtransgaz. The entire process was to be completed in 2026, since the contract between Moldovagaz and Gazprom was in effect until then. However, after Gazprom completely stopped deliveries from January 1, 2025, this deadline was no longer valid, and NAER resumed the procedure for unbundling activities in the gas sector.
