Moldova will gain access to European rapid response mechanism in case of major cyber attacks
This was announced by the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor, noting that this is provided for in the agreement signed on May 20 in Brussels, aimed at enhancing Moldova's cyber security. Doina Nistor signed this document together with the Director General of the European Commission for Communications Networks, Content and Technology Roberto Viola. The Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization explained that in a period of constant transformation, this agreement strengthens Moldova's digital shield by providing it with access to a new component of the Digital Europe program - the EU Cybersecurity Reserve. Thus, Moldova will gain access to the European rapid response mechanism in case of major cyber attacks. "This support includes specialized teams that will provide not only technical expertise, but also the necessary resources for crisis management: equipment and licenses. Thanks to this, Moldova is strengthening its ability to respond quickly and effectively to cyber threats. “The signing of this agreement is an important step towards our integration into the European digital infrastructure and strengthens our commitment to protecting institutions, citizens and democracy,” said Doina Nistor. According to her, during her visit to Brussels, she also discussed the possibility of joining the “Roam like at home” zone by January 2026, so that our citizens can communicate in the EU at the same rates as at home. She also presented the progress made in developing a digital identity wallet integrated into the EVO platform, in line with the European EUDI standards. “All these initiatives are part of a clear goal: modernization through digitalization.
