Moldova is preparing a comprehensive road repair plan under financing agreements with the EBRD and EIB for 100 million euros
This was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea, noting that the industry department, through the State Road Administration, manages approximately 6,000 km of roads, of which about 50% are in unsatisfactory condition and require large investments. Rehabilitation requires time and very large financial resources, given that after 2022, due to the general increase in prices, the cost of construction has increased significantly. Vladimir Bolea noted that Moldova recently signed a new financing agreement with the EBRD, and it has very good relations with the European Investment Bank. "We are talking about investments of 100 million euros for the reconstruction of national roads. The exact sections have yet to be agreed upon with partners, but we assume that there will be 6 sections of roads repaired according to European standards. "All these measures are intended for Moldovan citizens, to facilitate their economic activity and make the country more attractive to foreign and local investors," he said. He named another important project as the bridge in Ungheni, the construction of which began in April. It will connect Moldova with the European highway in Romania and reduce travel time. In addition to these major projects, the ministry supports the European Village program, which includes over 700 rural infrastructure projects worth over 3 billion lei to ensure modern living conditions in all settlements. According to the minister, large investments in infrastructure are aimed not only at improving roads, but also at economic development, improving road safety and better integrating the country into the European space. // 15.05.2025 – InfoMarket
