Moldova will remain a priority for the European Union and will receive adequate financial and political support in the process of joining the EU - Siegfried Muresan

The Romanian Member of the European Parliament and Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on the Moldova-European Union Association recalled that in March, the European Parliament voted in favor of the largest European support package in the history of our country, amounting to €1.9 billion, and that it intends to continue supporting Moldova on its path to EU membership. “That is why, in my report on the EU's budget priorities for 2028-2034, which has just been adopted by the European Parliament at its plenary meeting, I included a provision that Moldova, together with Ukraine, will receive adequate financial and political support in the process of joining the EU. The report also states that, in the enlargement process, the future EU multiannual budget should help both candidate countries and states that are already members of the European Union. We want the EU budget for 2028-2034 to be flexible enough so that we are ready to support Moldova both through funds allocated for preparation for accession and as a full member state, if accession takes place at that time,” said Siegfried Muresan. According to him, thanks to the accession of Moldova, Ukraine, and other states that will meet the conditions, the European Union will strengthen itself as a geopolitical power in the face of new security challenges we are facing. // 08.05. 2025 – InfoMarket.
