The EU will allocate more than 340 million euros to Moldova at the end of this month from the funding provided for by the 3-year economic growth package of 1.9 billion euros

Siegfried Muresan, Chairman of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Moldova, said this in an interview with Radio Moldova. According to him, the next tranche will be paid after the Moldovan authorities present a plan for the distribution of European funding. Siegfried Muresan noted that the development of this plan is at an extremely advanced stage. According to him, the Moldovan authorities are currently finalizing the Growth Plan, which means that they will inform the European Commission how they want to spend this money, what investments they will make, what reforms they will adopt. "As soon as this plan is presented to the European Commission in the near future, the European Commission will quickly, within a few weeks, give the "green light". As far as I know from the European Commission, this plan that the Moldovan authorities are working on is at an extremely advanced stage, things are going well. "The European Commission will approve it quickly, and immediately after that, within a few weeks, Moldova will receive pre-financing. More than 300 million euros, so that work can begin. This summer, we will see that the investments have already begun, and after that, twice a year, every six months, the Moldovan authorities, the government, will submit a request for payment to the European Commission, and twice a year, every six months, the European Commission will allocate part of the funds for 3 years - until all 1.9 billion euros are spent," said Siegfried Muresan. In early March, the European Parliament approved the Growth Plan for Moldova with funding of 1.9 billion euros. The EU is expected to provide up to 385 million euros in grants and 1.5 billion euros in loans in 2025-2027. These loans will be very concessional, with a long repayment period and favorable interest rates. The payments will be made subject to strict conditions for achieving the reforms set out in the agreed Reform Programme. The EU is allocating funds from the Reform and Growth Fund for Moldova for the following purposes: new roads, bridges and rail infrastructure; energy security - to complete a new power line and start building 2 more that will connect Moldova to the EU electricity grid; building 2 new well-equipped hospitals in Cahul and Balti; improving access to finance and supporting 25,000 businesses, including small family businesses, etc. // 11.04.2025 — InfoMarket.
