
EU to increase by 40 million euros the grant assistance under 2 programs for Moldova
Government's press service reported that, in particular, the EU will supplement the grant financial assistance within 2 programs that can benefit local and central public authorities, educational institutions and non-governmental organizations. The grants are increasing due to the growing number of potential beneficiaries who have applied for the respective programs. The Parliamentary Commission on Foreign Policy and European Integration approved the introduction of relevant amendments to 2 agreements with the EU. In particular, the amendments will be made to the Financing Agreement between Moldova, the European Commission and the Romanian Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration for the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania – Republic of Moldova program. The program is currently worth 77.3 million euros, and it targets the following priority areas health, education, tourism, culture, climate change, good governance and border management. Investments in equipment, modernization, training and information campaigns are envisaged. The program budget is proposed to be increased by 20 million euros to 97.3 million euros. It is worth mentioning that under the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania – Republic of Moldova program, 2 calls for small and standard projects were launched in 2023, for which 277 applications were submitted. The evaluation of the standard call is ongoing and of the submitted small project proposals, 33 have been approved for funding. A new call for proposals will be launched shortly. Similarly, it is planned to modify the financing agreement between Moldova, the European Commission and the Romanian Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration for the Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Program for 2021-2027. This program involves 8 countries - Moldova, Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Greece, and Ukraine, which can receive grants for the implementation of certain projects. Its total budget of 65 million euros will be increased by another 20 million euros to 85 million euros. It is worth mentioning that the first competition under this program was launched in 2023. 10 beneficiaries were selected from Moldova, which will receive a total of 1.5 million euros in funding. 97 beneficiaries from Moldova applied for the second call for proposals, whose dossiers are at the evaluation stage. // 03.03.2025 - InfoMarket.
