Germany to provide Moldova with additional grant aid of more than 33 million euros
The State Chancellery reported that German Ambassador to Moldova Margret Uebber announced this at a meeting this week with Government Secretary General Artur Mija. The money will be used to continue the current projects and to implement new initiatives. In particular, Germany, through the German Development Bank (KfW), will provide affordable long-term financing to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Moldova. These investments will contribute to the modernization and expansion of production capacities, helping to create hundreds of jobs in the private sector. Thus, the SME support mechanism - the Fund for Entrepreneurship and Economic Growth of Moldova (FACEM), managed by the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) - will receive a grant of 20 million euros, in addition to the existing grant of 10.7 million euros. At the same time, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) will use the 13 million euros grant for projects aimed at specifically improving the lives of Moldovan citizens. These include a new project funded by the German Federal Foreign Office that will support communities in the border regions between Moldova and Ukraine in the provision of drinking water. Other initiatives will be aimed at modernizing public services and making them more accessible and efficient in the process of European integration. At the same time, a new anti-corruption project funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development will support anti-corruption efforts by ensuring fair access to basic services such as education and health care. Germany is also helping to reduce energy costs for Moldovan citizens by expanding an energy efficiency and renewable energy project funded by the EU and Norway. // 20.12.2024 - InfoMarket
