
Moldova and South Korea will sign a framework Intergovernmental Agreement on technical and financial cooperation
The Cabinet of Ministers of Moldova approved the start of negotiations on this document and approved the negotiating group headed by the Secretary General of the Government Artur Mija. He noted that on the basis of this agreement, Moldova will be able to receive gratuitous aid, equipment and machinery from South Korea within the framework of specific projects that will contribute to the development of our country. Earlier, it was reported that Moldova and South Korea intend to sign an intergovernmental agreement on economic cooperation, which provides for the intensification of economic relations between the two countries, the implementation of joint projects in the field of economic cooperation, the exchange of experts, the participation of economic agents and individuals of both countries in international fairs and exhibitions, as well as other forms of cooperation. The parties will contribute to the development and strengthening of economic cooperation between Moldova and Korea, as well as the diversification of bilateral relations in the following areas: industry, energy, information and communications, transport, environment, architecture, etc. The signing of this agreement with South Korea will contribute to the achievement of goals in various areas of the national economy, as well as the development of Moldovan-Korean relations. It will also provide a positive economic impetus for the development and sectoral diversification of the Moldovan economy. The parties agreed to establish a Moldovan-Korean intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, which will identify areas of cooperation of mutual interest and recommend measures aimed at strengthening bilateral economic relations, eliminating any difficulties that impede the normal development of bilateral trade relations and economic cooperation. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Moldovan exports to South Korea in 2023, compared to the previous year, decreased by 70.2% - to $ 765.3 thousand, and imports to Moldova from South Korea increased by 1.4% - to $ 62.7 million.
