The NBM and several other major financial institutions of Moldova and Romania signed a protocol on cooperation in education and financial inclusion

In particular, the document was signed by the National Bank of Moldova, the National Commission for Financial Markets (NCFM), the Academy of Economic Education of Moldova (ASEM) together with the Financial Supervision Authority of Romania and the Institute for Financial Studies Foundation of Romania. As noted by the NBM, the purpose of the protocol is to strengthen relations between the institutions for the implementation of joint projects aimed at supporting the development of financial markets and promoting the welfare of Moldovan citizens. According to the document, the parties undertake to promote joint educational programs, support university and postgraduate programs specific to the financial sector, conduct scientific research, and support continuous training of specialists in the non-banking financial sector. "We have experience of successful cooperation within the Twinning project, and this protocol gives us the opportunity to expand these initiatives through new projects on professional training, education and financial inclusion", - stated the President of the National Bank of Moldova Anca Dragu. Continuing these ideas, the First Vice-President of Financial Supervision Authority of Romania Gabriel-Ioan Avramescu noted that education unites and the protocol signed by the parties gives rise to joint projects that will support the development of financial markets in both countries. In turn, the Chairman of the NCFM Dumitru Budianschi emphasized that this cooperation, by strengthening the capacity of institutions involved in promoting financial education, will contribute to the creation of a strong professional community that will support both consumers and providers of financial services. In this context, the Rector of ASEM Alexandru Stratan added that the academic environment plays an important role in this cooperation, preparing specialists capable of contributing to European integration and the development of the financial market. Likewise, the Chairman of the Institute for Financial Studies Board of Directors Valentin Ionescu stated that Romania's experience in the field of professional certification and financial education can now be used in Moldova. During the event, the Vice-President of the NBM, Constantin Schendra, stressed the importance of developing expertise in the insurance sector, stating that the demand for knowledge in this sector is growing and the protocol provides the necessary basis for training well-trained professionals. An important aspect of the cooperation is the establishment of an Institute for Financial Studies branch in Moldova, which will organize training programs with the participation of experts from both countries and conduct educational sessions for the general public, including schoolchildren, students, entrepreneurs and adults. Through this partnership, banking professionals, students and the general public will have access to free educational resources – lectures, seminars, master classes and information campaigns – that will help them gain knowledge or make more informed financial decisions, thus contributing to the improvement of individual and national well-being. // 17.12.2024 — InfoMarket.
